David Buss is a retired Vice Admiral of the U.S. Navy, where he served for 36+ years on operational assignments across the globe. His final active duty assignment was as Commander, Naval Air Forces (the Navy’s “Air Boss”) where he was responsible for the operational readiness, training, and oversight of all squadrons, aircraft carriers, and aviation personnel. Combining an academic background in physics, extensive training and leadership through multiple military command assignments, and strong private sector experience, David is a thought leader in the business and engineering technology communities.
Appointed as CEO of OpenDrives in 2019, David is dedicated to bringing OpenDrives’ innovative data storage solutions—which have become the cornerstone of media and entertainment workflows—to solve new challenges within healthcare, energy, security, and other growth industries. Prior to joining OpenDrives, he was President of Cubic Global Defense, Inc., a $900M global military training business. He currently serves as an independent director on the boards of WestPak, Inc. and GelSight, Inc., and is a Senior Advisor to Anzu Partners, a venture capital group. He also serves as a trustee for the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation Board. Buss is a 2022 Official Member of the Forbes Technology Council—an invitation-only organization for senior-level tech leaders and executives, selected based on their deep knowledge and diverse experience in the industry.
Marlin has 20+ years of experience in the entertainment and media industries as an investment banker and in-house finance executive with $10B of M&A, equity and debt transaction experience. He served as CFO of Legendary Entertainment, from its inception through to its acquisition by Wanda in 2016.
20+ years of experience leading technology teams and defining business strategy for Fortune 100 financial, technology, and services companies. Co-founder of numerous companies in the big data and machine learning space, including Illumine Capital and Altyrus Technologies Corporation, where he currently serves on their boards of directors.
25+ years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining M&E technology, infrastructures, and workflows of all scales—ranging from the film studios at NBC Universal, animation house at Illumination Entertainment, and post-production facilities at Siren Digital. Since joining in 2015, Sean has had a formative role in shaping and implementing all aspects of OpenDrives’ technology design, evolving into his current role as a key lead across strategy, product, and operations.
25+ years of experience across all facets of marketing and communications. Jonathan has held global leadership positions up to CEO level, from creative start-ups to multinational agencies including Oglivy (WPP’s leading global network) and Chime Communications Group.
Experienced sales professional with 25+ years in the technology and data storage industry. Joe has served at every level from manager up to SVP, building and leading sales teams and channel partnerships for companies such as StorageTek, EMC, and Isilon.
